Kris Krug

I build bridges where human creativity and machine intelligence collide—creating weird, wonderful things neither could dream up alone.

At TheUpgrade.ai and hosting CBC’s Sandboxing AI, I dive into the messy, beautiful chaos of human-AI collaboration. I show people how to grab algorithms by the hand and lead them into uncharted creative territory.

When I’m leading the BC+AI Ecosystem or researching at SFU’s METACREATION Lab, I’m connecting brilliant misfits and visionaries who refuse to accept that technology must strip away our humanity.

I weave Indigenous Knowledge Systems with bleeding-edge tech because the oldest wisdom often holds the keys to our digital future. Ancestral patterns and protocols make for better code—who knew?

I don’t build systems that optimize humans. I craft spaces where humans can be gloriously inefficient, creative, and alive. Silicon Valley worships at the altar of efficiency; I pray to the gods of meaningful chaos.

From shooting for National Geographic to stirring shit up at SXSW, I’ve always moved between worlds—translator, provocateur, catalyst, instigator. Part digital alchemist, part cultural hacker.

The digital future belongs to those weird enough to imagine it differently. Let’s make it sovereign, surprising, and unapologetically human.
